I’ve been working lately with paper that is crumpled, experimenting with the process of damaging and manipulating of the paper, and how that would determine how I responded to it as a surface for markmaking.
I have seen my walking practice as a line amongst other lines, seeking oneness in the weaving together of all our lines. But the only way to really make it real – for me – is to recognize that this surface is not pristine and pure. Our lives never operate on a blank canvas, or a clean piece of paper. My line, as all our lines, do not hover above the surface, but are embedded within.
