graphite and charcoal and acrylic paint on 18×24″ paper, and a little sketch of writing inspired by moonlight that illuminates just enough:
Once upon a time
A traveler walked in an arid land
of his making
Too dark to see
not knowing where to turn
or where to look
Then the moon
rose above an aubergine horizon
reflecting the fiery light
of the distant sun
refracted through a prism
of soft pale hues
iris adjusted,
revealed to the traveler
the ground underneath
now limned and shimmering
And it was all the light the traveler could ever want
it was enough
no, not enough, yet
more than enough
to light a way
forward
